Introduction and a Little Hello

My name is Kayla Lynn or Kaylalynn as some individuals know me as. I am an illustrator, baker, and vintage enthusiast. I enjoy the beauty in every day life and I enjoy a nice cup of tea and a deliciously scrumptious treat by my side while doing so. 

I went to school for my Bachelors of Art in Oregon. I was forced to take classes that forced me out of my comfort zone, I ate food that tickled my taste buds, and I discovered the world of being a vegan. 

I began cooking and baking for myself. And I found a new appreciation for culinary arts. Soon after I met my amazing partner Johnnie. He was vegan and my goodness was it a treat when he would come visit from Florida. He would make me delicious vegan pumpkin treats and wake me up to a heart warming breakfast. After 11 months of being long distance I made the jump to move in with Johnnie and our pit bull, who thinks he's a lap dog, Jax. 

To hit on my interest in vintage...I have always adored the 1940s to 1960s ever since the age of 15. It all began with the sharing of stories with my grandparents and great grandparents. I adored seeing photographs of them at my age and the beauty that emanated throughout each image was refreshing. From there it was the introduction of records and music of the era. I just fell in love with the idea of going to dance hops and jiving with my friends and significant other.

I am also a huge history fanatic. I could listen to stories of veterans, survivors, and more. My father is in the military and I have a great appreciation for those who have fought for our country. Do you watch war movies and cry? I do....I'm quite the sap when it comes to story lines related to historically accurate wars...just a little fact about me..

Now where were we, oh yeah..

Florida is definitely not where I ever thought I'd end up, but as I learned from experiences in California and Oregon, it's not the place where you live that creates happiness, it's the people, memories, and experiences you create. This blog is not only going to be a place where I share my photography, art, vintage inspired outfits, and delicious vegan recipes but, also a place where I document those amazing memories and share them with you. This is Cupcakes and Petticoats.
